The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) has announced that the online training course Shelf-life of Food Products, offered by Q-Pulse Consulting, has renewed its QAHE programmatic accreditation. The decision is a renewal, not a first listing. QAHE first recognised the course programmatically in 2023. Renewal is a separate review of the named programme. It applies to Shelf-life of Food Products as offered by Q-Pulse Consulting. It does not automatically extend to other Q-Pulse titles, to consulting assignments, or to any other legal entity.
A short course aimed at working food practitioners
Shelf-life of Food Products is a seven-hour online programme for people who set or improve shelf-life for food products. The published objective is practical: to show how shelf-life is approached in industry, which testing methods are used, how a study is planned and carried out, and which legal requirements apply in the countries where products are placed.
Topics listed for the course include an introduction to shelf-life; factors that affect shelf-life; types of spoilage, with examples; real-time testing compared with accelerated testing; the design, planning and execution of a shelf-life study; improvement techniques; shelf-life legislation; and case studies. Teaching methods described by QAHE include oral presentations, discussion and question-and-answer sessions, case studies, and an assignment or final assessment. Training materials are supplied to participants in soft copy.
The course is framed for practitioners rather than for first-year students. QAHE notes that participants are expected to benefit most if they already have a basic grounding in microbiology or food science, or at least one year of work in the food industry.
Why programmatic renewal matters for this title
Programmatic accreditation is a quality-assurance review of a named course. It is not the same as institutional accreditation of every activity under the Q-Pulse name. Food businesses that send staff on a shelf-life course are buying a defined syllabus: spoilage, quality and safety factors, study design, and the legal frame in destination markets. A renewal tells those employers that the same named title has been presented again and remains on the QAHE record.
Q-Pulse Consulting has a longer published history with QAHE across food-safety and management-system training, including earlier programmatic listings and renewals for titles such as HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001 and legal labelling. Those other titles are not the subject of the September 2026 notice. Only Shelf-life of Food Products is named in this renewal.
