In a heartfelt goodbye, Kimberly Wang, the beloved DJ of 987FM, celebrated her final day at the station after an impressive 14-year tenure. On November 3, she took to Instagram to share poignant moments from her last broadcast, expressing her gratitude for the journey and the support she received from listeners and colleagues alike.

During her emotional farewell message on air, Kimberly reflected on her time at 987FM, stating, “Thank you so much for celebrating this journey with me and cheering for me louder than I could have ever imagined. Your love has given me the confidence to embrace this new chapter in my life.”

At her farewell party, colleagues prepared a warm send-off that included cakes and a certificate marking her “graduation” from the station. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and nostalgia as her fellow DJs expressed their appreciation for her contributions. DJ Avery Aloysius was seen embracing Kimberly, visibly moved, while DJ Natasha Faisal hugged customised pillows featuring Kimberly and her co-host Gerald Koh, shedding tears amidst the celebrations.

In her Instagram post, Kimberly shared her thoughts on stepping outside her comfort zone. “When I made this decision, I wondered which was scarier: leaving what I’ve known for so long or never exploring what else is out there. I realized that growth and exploration are my favorite parts of life,” she wrote.

Kimberly’s departure marks not just the end of an era at 987FM, but also a new beginning for her. After 25 years with Mediacorp, where she initially gained fame as a child TV host and actress, she is now set to venture into entrepreneurship with the local jewellery brand Curious Creatures.

Reflecting on her experiences, she noted the privilege of being able to count down her last moments at the station, highlighting how often people miss out on saying goodbye. “There are countless times in life when we miss our last moments with friends or our favourite places,” she said.

Gerald Koh, her long-time co-host, paid tribute to her on social media, reminiscing about their nearly decade-long partnership on the airwaves. “We’ve shared so many memories together, and it’s bittersweet to think this is our last time sitting in the same studio,” he wrote.

As she embarks on this new journey, Kimberly Wang carries with her the cherished memories of her time at 987FM, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
