The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO). This agreement marks an important milestone in strengthening international cooperation in quality assurance and higher education across the Arab region and beyond.

ALECSO is a specialized institution of the League of Arab States, headquartered in Tunis, Tunisia. Founded on 25 July 1970 in Cairo, Egypt, ALECSO serves as a regional counterpart to UNESCO. Its mission is to coordinate, develop, and promote activities in the fields of education, culture, and science throughout the Arab world. The organisation works to foster Arab intellectual unity, support sustainable development, and advance knowledge-sharing among its member states.

The newly signed MOU establishes a formal framework for strategic collaboration between QAHE and ALECSO. Key areas of cooperation include the advancement of accreditation and quality assurance practices, mutual recognition of educational standards, joint promotion of academic events and conferences, and the exchange of expertise and best practices in higher education. The agreement also opens opportunities for the recognition of distinguished academics and professionals through QAHE Honorary Fellowships.

Through this partnership, both organisations aim to enhance institutional development, improve academic quality, and promote greater comparability of educational standards. The collaboration is expected to facilitate constructive engagement, support capacity-building initiatives, and contribute to the continuous improvement of higher education systems in the Arab region and internationally.

QAHE welcomes this significant development and looks forward to working closely with ALECSO in the coming years. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing educational excellence, fostering international academic cooperation, and supporting quality assurance frameworks that benefit institutions, educators, and learners across diverse regions.
